Why Choose Monarch for Storm Doors
Why the Omaha Metro Chooses Our Storm Door Company
Since 1996, Monarch has been the trusted choice for exterior installation across the Omaha Metro. Our owner-led team approaches every project with the same care we’d give our own homes, and that commitment shows in every install.
Monarch is BBB accredited and a 4-Time BBB Integrity Award winner, backing every storm door installation with professional standards and ethical business practices. We stand behind every project we complete.
The Omaha Metro community has recognized Monarch’s service and quality six times over. When homeowners vote for the best, we’re honored to be their choice.
A storm door is only as good as its installation. Our crew measures, seals, and hangs each door with precision-grade standards. Gaps and misalignment create drafts; we eliminate both.
Monarch stands behind every installation with a full 3-year labor warranty, plus the manufacturer’s own protection. If something isn’t right, we make it right.
We install Waudena storm doors—engineered for durability and designed to perform season after season across Nebraska’s demanding climate.

Our Installation Process
How We Install Your Storm Door
-
Assessment & Design Selection
We start by visiting your home and measuring your existing entry. Storm doors come in several frame materials and operational styles—full-view aluminum, traditional wood-grain composite, high-wind models—and we help you choose what fits your home’s architecture and your lifestyle. We discuss screen options (standard, retractable, or no screen) and how the door will integrate with your entry’s existing hardware and trim.
- Precise frame measurement for a perfect fit
- Review of style, material, and operational options (swing-out, sliding, etc.)
- Discussion of ventilation, visibility, and seasonal adjustments
- Confirmation of color and hardware to match your home’s style
-
Preparation & Site Readiness
On install day, we prepare the entry area and inspect the existing frame for soundness and alignment. If the frame needs shims or adjustments to be perfectly plumb and square—which is often the case with older entries—we make those adjustments before we hang the new door. A level, square frame is the foundation of a weather-tight install.
- Clear and protect the entry area
- Inspect existing frame condition
- Shim and adjust for perfect plumb and square alignment
- Verify that hardware mounting points are sound
-
Installation & Sealing
We hang the storm door using rust-resistant fasteners and professional-grade weatherstripping. Every gap around the frame is sealed with quality caulk and foam backing rod so air and water can’t penetrate. The hinge mounting, handle installation, and screen hardware are all set to manufacturer spec and tested for smooth operation.
- Install new weatherstripping on all four sides
- Hang the door on hinges with proper alignment
- Install all hardware (handle, closer, latches) and verify operation
- Seal all frame perimeter gaps with foam and caulk
- Install and test screen, if applicable
-
Screen Installation & Testing
If you’ve chosen a screen, we install it in the track or frame and test its operation. Screens should slide smoothly and catch securely. We verify that the screen frame is square and that it doesn’t catch on the door when opened. Retractable screens are tested for smooth retraction and secure storage in the top rail.
- Install screen in frame or track
- Verify smooth, catch-free operation
- Test retractable screens for proper extension and storage
- Adjust rollers or clips if needed for optimal performance
-
Handoff & Care Instructions
We walk you through the door’s operation, care, and seasonal adjustments. Storm doors often have features homeowners don’t immediately recognize—how to remove the screen for the winter, where to find the drainage weep holes (intentional small openings that let interior condensation escape without trapping water). We show you the maintenance schedule for keeping the door operating flawlessly for years to come.
- Walk through all operational modes (screen in/out, door swing/slide, etc.)
- Point out drainage, weatherstripping, and seasonal care
- Explain when to inspect for caulk wear and plan maintenance
- Provide documentation and warranty information
- Schedule a follow-up check after the first few weeks if needed

AfterQuestions About Storm Doors
Frequently Asked Questions
Traditional storm doors have a single large window pane in the upper half and a frame below, often with decorative grilles. Full-view doors are nearly all glass from top to bottom—they let in more light and give a cleaner, more modern appearance. Both offer the same weather protection; the choice is aesthetic and how much light you want flowing through your entry.
Yes. Storm doors hang on the exterior of your entry frame, in front of your main door. Your existing entry door stays in place. The storm door adds an extra layer of insulation and weather protection while keeping your original door fully functional. During winter, the storm door’s airspace acts as insulation; in warm months, you can open it for ventilation.
That’s normal—especially on older homes. Our team shims and adjusts the mounting before hanging the door to make sure it’s perfectly plumb and square. This ensures smooth operation, even gaps, and a professional appearance. If the existing frame has significant wear, we account for that during preparation to ensure a secure installation.
Most modern storm doors have removable panes that let you clean the inside glass without disassembling the door. Some designs have a removable trim ring that gives access to inter-pane space. We’ll show you exactly how to access and clean them when we install your door—it’s straightforward and doesn’t require tools.
Not necessarily. If your storm door has a removable screen and ventilation panel (or a retractable screen), you can swap components to open up the entry for summer airflow. You can also simply keep the storm door on year-round—it won’t hurt performance and adds a finished look to your entry. The choice is yours.
Waudena storm doors are built for decades of use in tough climates. The frame is engineered to resist warping and weathering. The mechanical parts—hinges, closers, and handle hardware—are stainless or rust-resistant.
Yes. The airspace between your storm door and entry door acts as insulation. In winter, it reduces heat loss through your entry; in summer, if you keep it closed during the hottest part of the day, it minimizes solar heat gain. The effect is modest on a single entry but adds up across your home’s envelope. Weatherstripping and a tight seal maximize this benefit.
Yes. Every storm door includes a handle with a built-in latch or lock mechanism. Most also have a key-operated deadbolt for security. We install all hardware and test the locking mechanism during installation. The lock on your main entry door is still your home’s primary security—the storm door lock adds a secondary layer.
Storm doors are designed to be removable. If you ever decide to take it down, our team can remove it cleanly and patch any fastener holes in the frame. However, most homeowners keep storm doors in place permanently because of the protection and visual benefit they provide.
Installation time varies based on the complexity of the existing frame and any adjustments needed. More complex projects may take longer. We’ll give you a realistic timeline when we confirm your appointment.
